The Barshalom family belongs to the eighth generation of the descendants of Morenu Mola Ohr Sharga ztz”l (Yazdi), may his merits stand us in good stead.
After considerable efforts were invested in laying the spiritual and organizational foundations and raising preliminary resources, the Kollel under the name of Ohr HaShalom opened its doors on Rosh Chodesh Sivan 5739 (1979) to two (2) students, and classes were conducted in the family synagogue.

Kollel
After army service, students join the Kollel for the term of seven (7) to eight (8) years. The number of students learning in classes is about thirty (30). We are proud to say that more than four hundred (400) have been graduated from the Kollel and have earned semicha (Certified by the Government of Israel).
They are now eligible to serve as Rabbis and many now hold rabbinical offices in Israel, the Israeli Defense Forces and in the diaspora. Graduating rabbis have been trained to specialize in certain areas of the Jewish Laws, including Dayanim, Shechita, Issur Ve’heter, etc.

School/Yeshiva
The resounding success and development of the Kollel indicated the possibility of achieving its initial target, namely, to found a multi-faceted school (Yeshiva) in the memory of Morenu Mola Ohr Sharga ztz”l.
In 1989, the institutions decided to open an elementary school and high school. The students range from 6–13 years old (elementary school) and 14-17 years old (high school). Students are given both a Jewish and secular education. Today, there are two-hundred and fifty (250) students currently enrolled.

Kindergarten
In 1997, the management of the institutions opened a kindergarten. Initially, there was only one (1) class but each subsequent year an additional class was added. Today, there are one-hundred ten (110) children in the institutions, ages 3-5 years old.
Publishing
One of the successful enterprises undertaken by Ohr HaShalom is that of publishing books on Torah (Torah), prayer books (Siddurim) for general use during the year and for prayer books for use on the High Holy days and Jewish Festivals (Machzorim). Ohr Hashalom publishes works of Tehilim (Tehilim) and other Jewish Rites (Rites) as well. All these are printed in a special and unique format.
Ohr HaShalom publications are widely read and famous both in Israel and in the diaspora due to their convenience and layout and editorial format, making them most suitable for scholars and worshippers alike.
We are proud to say that we are the main provider of this above mentioned published works to the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).

Contributors
In order to augment and disseminate Torah learning and to aggrandize the name of our teacher Morenu Mola Ohr Sharaga ztz’l, we are solely dependent on the contributions we receive from our contributors.
With gracious and charitable contributions, we are able to provide students ranging from three years old to thirty years old with a first-class education. These donors can be the difference in the life of a student who could otherwise not afford to pay his tuition. In addition, two buildings were constructed with the following characteristics:
First building was built in 1991, located at 7 Moshe Hagaic, Jerusalem, five stories, kitchen, dining, +/- 100 bedrooms and a place for Kollel.
Second building was built in 2016, located at 33 Issa Berach, Jerusalem, 6 stories, beit midrash, 24 classrooms, courtyard, playground, rooftop, places for celebration. Kindergarten and schools and Yeshiva students are in this building.
